A building worth getting to know.
The Florentine has welcomed people to West Market Street for generations. The City of Germantown dates its original brick section to 1816 and identifies Philip Gunckel as its first owner. Travelers once stopped here along stagecoach and traction routes; neighbors still come through the door to share a meal and catch up.
Look at the historic street photograph and take your time with the details: the people along the sidewalk, the horse and buggy, the early automobile, and the streetcar. Together they tell a story that a close crop would miss.
Come inside today and the story continues in the exposed brick, warm wood, and rooms with personalities of their own. The Tavern is the place to pull up a chair for a drink and something to eat. The Leighty Room gives celebrations a distinctive historic setting. Upstairs, the Gunckel Suite offers a private gathering space with its own bar available.
These rooms are part of a working town tavern. They are here for birthdays, family meals, toasts, reunions, and the next memory you make with us. Ask our team which space suits your gathering.
